Super Service Saturday Q/A
How do I register?
If you haven’t done so already, make sure to register at cco.ku.edu/sss. This reserves your spot with us and let’s us know you plan on attending!
All online volunteer options can be found here, and will be clearly marked as Super Service Saturday opportunities.
Where will we be meeting?
For those volunteering online: if you’re comfortable meeting in-person, you’ll meet at the Burge Union between 9:00 AM and 10:45 AM to get your free food and t-shirt! However, this is not required.
For those volunteering in-person: We’ll be having our check-in between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM, where you’ll be able to pick-up your boxed lunch and t-shirt before heading out to your volunteer site.
Specific check-in times will be provided via email in the days leading up to SSS.
I’m volunteering in-person; how am I supposed to get to the volunteer site?
We’ll provide transportation! All groups will have a bus that will take them to and from their volunteer site.
What do I need to bring?
Just yourself and a mask to wear during the event! For clothing, we do recommend wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants for comfort and safety.
I want to be grouped with specific people. How do I do that?
We’re more than happy to help you stay with a group of people! Simply email us at email@example.com with your names, information, and top three preferred volunteer sites so we can accommodate you.
How is the CCO following COVID-19 safety guidelines?
The CCO plans on following all University of Kansas guidelines for COVID-19 safety. In turn, all in-person meet-ups will be scheduled and follow social distancing guidelines. Our staff will be wearing masks, and we expect all participants who are present physically to do so as well. This is to protect our health and yours! We want everyone to be able to attend safely and leave feeling comfortable. We will also have extra PPE on-site in case someone forgets a mask.
How do I respond to a need for Super Service Saturday?
To sign-up for an ongoing need for Super Service Saturday, first go to volunteer.ku.edu and sign-in using your KU ID and password. Once you are logged in, scroll down to “Recent Programs” on the bottom of the main page and select “Super Service Saturday.” At the bottom of this page, you will find opportunities aka “Program Ongoing Needs.”
Take your time to review the opportunities available, and choose one that suits your interests! Selecting “View Details” will allow you to see what the project is in more detail. Once you are ready to commit to an opportunity, register for the need by clicking “Respond” on the top or bottom of the project page and then clicking “Submit Ongoing Need Response” on the following page. If you need to unregister for the need at any time, navigate back to the project page and click on “Unregister” at the top of the page.
To complete the need, you will follow the instructions on the website that the need redirects you to. Some needs may require you to make an account on their website, so play around with it well before Super Service Saturday!
All in-person volunteers will register their service here. Select “Respond” on the top or bottom of the page, and when prompted, log in with your KU ID and password. After clicking “Submit Ongoing Need Response” on the following page, you are good to go!
How do I submit my hours for verification on Super Service Saturday?
After volunteering, be sure to record your hours. Make a note of when you first begin volunteering and when you are done. Then, log back into volunteer.ku.edu, click your initials in the top right corner of your page and on the drop down menu, select “Track Hours.” On this page, you’ll scroll down to where it says “Hour Type.” Here you will select “Yes” as well as indicate which ongoing need you were registered for (e.g. Amnesty Decoder).
On the next box over where it says “Hour Details,” you will put “08/29/2020” for the date as well as input how many hours you volunteered for.
