Super Service Saturday Q/A

How do I register?
If you haven’t done so already, make sure to register at ku.universitytickets.com. This reserves your spot with us and let’s us know you plan on attending!

We are excited to announce that we will be offering in-person volunteer opportunities as well as online opportunities which you will be allowed to select through the registration link.

Where will we be meeting?
Check in will be at the Kansas Union Ballroom beginning at 10:00 AM. During this time you will get your free food and t-shirt!

For those volunteering online you are still welcomed to come in to the ballroom to grab your free food and shirt.

I’m volunteering in-person; how am I supposed to get to the volunteer site?
We’ll provide transportation! All groups will have a bus that will take them to and from their volunteer site.

What do I need to bring?
For clothing, we do recommend wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants for comfort and safety. Your service site may require you to wear a mask, therefore it is highly encouraged that you come prepared with a mask.

I want to be grouped with specific people. How do I do that?
When you register, you will be asked on the form to enter the organization/class/etc that you will be volunteering with. Each member of your organization/class/etc who is interested must register themselves and write in the organization they are volunteering with in the appropriate field. From there, we will make sure to place the members of your organization in the same group!

How is the CCO following COVID-19 safety guidelines?
The CCO plans on following all University of Kansas guidelines for COVID-19 safety. In turn, all in-person meet-ups will be scheduled and follow social distancing guidelines. This is to protect our health and yours! We want everyone to be able to attend safely and leave feeling comfortable. We will also have extra PPE on-site in case someone forgets a mask.

If I am volunteering online how will I access the volunteer opportunities?

To sign-up for an online volunteer opportunity for Super Service Saturday, first go to volunteer.ku.edu and sign-in using your KU ID and password. Once you are logged in, scroll down to “Recent Programs” on the bottom of the main page and select “Super Service Saturday.” At the bottom of this page, you will find opportunities aka “Program Ongoing Needs.”

Take your time to review the opportunities available, and choose one that suits your interests! Selecting “View Details” will allow you to see what the project is in more detail. Once you are ready to commit to an opportunity, register for the need by clicking “Respond” on the top or bottom of the project page and then clicking “Submit Ongoing Need Response” on the following page. If you need to unregister for the need at any time, navigate back to the project page and click on “Unregister” at the top of the page.

To complete the need, you will follow the instructions on the website that the need redirects you to. Some needs may require you to make an account on their website, so play around with it well before Super Service Saturday!

How do I submit my hours for verification on Super Service Saturday?
Online

After volunteering, be sure to record your hours. Make a note of when you first begin volunteering and when you are done. Then, log back into volunteer.ku.edu, click your initials in the top right corner of your page and on the drop down menu, select “Track Hours.” On this page, you’ll scroll down to where it says “Hour Type.” Here you will select “Yes” as well as indicate which ongoing need you were registered for (e.g. Amnesty Decoder).

On the next box over where it says “Hour Details,” you will put “08/29/2020” for the date as well as input how many hours you volunteered for. This may be more than 2 hours, if you really get lost in the opportunity! After filling this information, select “Submit Hour Entry” at the bottom of the page.

In-person

After volunteering on the day of SSS, be sure to record your hours online! Log back into volunteer.ku.edu with your KU ID and password, click your initials in the top right corner of your page and on the drop down menu, select “Track Hours.” On this page, you’ll scroll down to where it says “Hour Type.” Here you will select “Yes” and indicate the ongoing need you were registered for, titled [IN-PERSON].

On the next box over where it says “Hour Details,” you will put “08/29/2021” for the date as well as input how many hours you volunteered for (2). After filling this information, select “Submit Hour Entry” at the bottom of the page.
