CCO Internship Program

Beginning this fall, we are beginning a new program called the CCO Internship Program. We hope to provide the opportunity for participating students to stimulate academic, career and personal growth while also meeting the needs of non-profit agencies within the Lawrence community. This program consists of a 6-12 hour time commitment per week for one semester. Schedule is to be agreed upon by the student and agency supervisor. Interns will also be responsible for meeting with CCO staff throughout the semester to reflect upon the internship.

The deadline to apply for the program is May 1st!

Join the CCO Family!

Great service, advocacy and awareness has the power to make an impact on the world and thus make individuals, families, neighborhoods, cities, states, and even nations better than what they were before. It just takes one person or one community to speak and act out to begin the struggle for justice. This comes in many forms, with action or education or both, hand-in-hand.

At the Center for Community Outreach, you can become the change you want to see in the world. You can do this as a volunteer or as a member of the CCO Core. Learn to be a community organizer, an advocate, an events programmer, and so much more while making a difference in the community. Applications are now available for the 2012-2013 CCO Core including Executive Director, Managing Director, Communications Director, Development Director, and Program Coordinator. Apply to be a part of the CCO family today!

Apply for the CCO Ambassador’s Program

This year, we are starting a new CCO Ambassador’s program to reach out to a broader student audience. Come to our first meeting this Thursday in the International Room of the Kansas Union at 5:30 to find out more information and enjoy some free pizza!

Q: What is the goal of the Ambassadors Program?

A: The main goal of the Ambassador Program is to connect student groups from all across campus so that groups can promote their volunteer opportunities and learn about volunteer opportunities sponsored by other groups that their members can get involved in.

Q: Who can join the Ambassadors Program?

A: Anyone! Most Ambassadors will represent a different student group on campus, however, this is not a requirement. If you are a member of a student organization or if you just want to learn more about volunteering, feel free to become an Ambassador!

Q: What are some other benefits of the program?

A: This will be great way to generate new ideas as well as opportunities to team up with other student groups to make service events bigger and better and avoid overlap.

Q: What is the time commitment for being an Ambassador?

A: There will be 2 meetings for Ambassadors each semester. In between these meetings, you will have the opportunity to send and receive email information about community service.

Q: How do I learn more?

A: Come to the Ambassadors Program informational meeting on Thursday, September 22 from 5:30pm-6:30pm in the International Room in the Kansas Union! We will get to know each other, brainstorm some ideas for the year, and eat pizza.

We hope to see you there!

Please send any additional questions about the program to Cara Smith, the CCO Assistant Development Director, at ccodevelop@ku.edu.
