Daily Bread is the first Food Recovery Program at the University of Kansas that currently partners with the KU Dining Services and the Center for Community Outreach to donate the campus' surplus bread and produce before each break to the Salvation Army.

GROW is a program that works in Lawrence’s elementary schools to promote different ways in which the kids can “grow” in their lives. Volunteers visit classrooms to promote different themes to the students in a fun, active, and educational way. Some of the themes explored are teamwork, nutrition, and environmental awareness. The unique thing about GROW is it allows you to make a lasting difference in these children’s lives.

Into the Streets Week is an annual week-long event in the spring (this school year it will be April 7th through April 13th, 2013) that is a university-wide initiative to promote community service, activism, and advocacy in both the local and global community. Into the Streets Week incorporates all 13 programs within the Center for Community Outreach, as well as other service and activist oriented groups on campus, to coordinate special events, workshops, and speakers. Past events include a hunger banquet, outdoor concert, campus garden project, and the Empty Bowls project.

Jubilee Cafe provides breakfast for in-need community members in a restaurant-style environment. The program runs from 5:30AM to approximately 8:15AM Tuesday and Friday mornings at the First United Methodist Church, 946 Vermont. Volunteers don't need to sign up prior to coming; just show up anytime between 5:30 and 8:15. However, if you are in a group of more than 5 people, we encourage you to email us prior to coming.

Lifeline's objective is to serve the educational needs of students within the Lawrence community through mentoring, tutoring and other activities that facilitate one-on-one interactions between students and volunteers. Volunteers engage with students through academics as well as life coaching.

Project Bridge is a literacy advocacy group for all languages. We focus on placing volunteers with the best site for each person based on their personal skill set and experience. These sites include Lawrence Montessori School, Plymouth Language program, Small World, Centro Hispano Resource Center, Islamic Center of Lawrence, Mentors in the Lives of Kid, Adult Learning Center, Lawrence High School and the Lawrence Public Library.
